Dómhnal Slattery is one of the world’s leading aircraft leasing pioneers and the founding CEO of Avolon. Established in 2010, in what was one of the largest ever globally private equity funded start-ups, today Avolon is the second largest aircraft lessor in the world.

Dómhnal has a proven track record of establishing and scaling industry leading leasing businesses, rapidly building market-leading aircraft leasing platform including the successful establishment of IAMG, RBS Aviation Capital (now SMBC Aviation) and Avolon through three business cycles – from the early 1990’s to today.

As CEO of Avolon, Dómhnal sets the company strategy and commercial objectives and oversees their execution. As of December 31, 2021 Avolon has a total owned, managed and committed fleet of 824 aircraft, with 150 airline customers in 62 countries. It is rated Investment Grade by Fitch, Moody’s, S&P Global and KBRA.

In June 2021, Avolon announced an order for 500 eVTOL electric aircraft from Vertical Aerospace which Aerospace which was valued at US$2 billion. The order highlighted Avolon’s commitment to sustainability and its position as an industry leader and innovator. The commitment to the VA-X4, which will revolutionise air travel with zero emissions battery powered flight, will place Avolon at the forefront of technological change in the industry and underlines Avolon’s belief in the electrification of air transport. In December 2021 Vertical Aerospace listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Dómhnal Slattery was appointed Chairman of Vertical Aerospace in January 2022.
